Fourth Of July Rescue

Hello all, Ordinarily I would never use the Pet in need space to announce a rescue in my home sanctuary but this story I believe deserves the place. I belong to a motorcycle group named Dixie Thunder, its the Aiken Chapter of the South Carolina ABATE. I am the webmistress for the Dixie Thunder website http://www.abateaikensc.com News floated around about a kitty who needed a home, but this kitty was in North Charleston SC, quite a way from my place. Our Bikers as well as a thousand or so more were to be escorting the Wall That Heals into our city of Aiken SC, this was a huge event in honor of the Veterans please read about it here: The Wall That Heals The biker helping to home this kitty was going to be coming to Aiken for the Wall Escort and he offered to drive this little baby on the back of his motorcycle to bring her to me. The little one had a safe trip, of course she was not completely thrilled with riding, but she rode over 100 miles with only the normal complaint every kitty gives when finding herself moving through space. She arrived at a large Bike Rally a little thirsty and concerned about the noise. The Biker found his way through thousands of people to locate a person he had never met to exchange the kitty, I was found and received our newest little one. She was transported from her bike carrier to a wire cage...more pics to come...and brought to a corner gas station where she was given nome nice cool bottled water and let to settle down under a tree catching a cool breeze. When we were carrying her to transfer her to the wired cage many people noticed her carrier which was covered with ABATE stickers, along the walk she became known as the ABATE Kitty, when I was transferring her I let it be known that she was being rescued by a Dixie Thunder member so now she is the Dixie Thunder ABATE Kitty....Nicknamed Dixie. Here is a picture of our newest little girl. This is all thanks to a biker from Dixie Thunder who alerted me to a kitten needing a home and to watch for her advertisement, his name is Dan Toth and he is also the Membership Coordinator for ABATE of SC. and to a North Charleston SC biker and State Coordinator of ABATE of SC who had a kind heart and rehomed and transported this little one, giving up his position in the escort of The Wall That Heals so that she would not be in the heat longer than necessary. His name is Fred Ruddock Both Guys can be seen here ABATE of SC Members Please visit ABATE of SC http://www.abatesc.com And Dixie Thunder - Aiken ABATE http://www.abateaikensc.com and support those bikers who not only fight for personal freedoms & Bikers rights, but do admirable charity work, support our veterans and help animals. The next time you are PO at a biker, or you are put off by their style or appearence...remember that past the leather, tattoos, and loud bikes are a bunch of guys & gals who behind the scenes do bike runs for needy children, transport animals to homes, give blood by the hundreds and more. There is nothing more beautiful in my mind than the big bad biker dude gingerly handling a kitten and giving up his place in an honorable run to make sure this little one found her home safely. Please remember these pictures and this story...dont let the leather fool you, these guys have heart. Becky
