I've been really busy updating my sites
Handipets
Haven and
Sidney's
Paw and keeping contact with one of my
cat groups. I have been looking forward to
sharing pics of our newest rescue. His name
is Odie. We found him the end of September,
right after hurricane Katrina our gas stations were
running out of gas. We got word that one
station still had premium gas so I waited till
after midnight when my check would be
deposited. We took our car running on fumes
to a gas station that was a little further than we
would usually safely travel...but we made it and
they did have gas. While pumping Amy heard a
pathetic cat cry. We followed the cry to find
a wee kitten tangled in thorn vines by a
curb. He was covered in ants and bitten up,
he was on a major highway. We looked around
for a momma...he was way too young to be without a
momma, but no momma was found. We took him
because he would have been killed in a few hours as
the traffic on that road is terrible and if the
traffic didn't kill him, the starvation and
dehydration would have.
Very quickly we learned that little Odie was a good
little hunter, not used to cat food, but would rip
your hand off for a piece of raw meat. The
vicous little think reminded you of
"Chucky"! We were also in luck that we
had a momma cat who had lost her babies but had
milk. She took Odie under her paw and raised
him up. Odie is now a healthy little boy who
will still rip your hand off for a piece of
raw meat...but at least he does eat cat food
now.
